More about Chinese
Mandarin is the common standard across mainland China and Taiwan, while Cantonese is widely spoken in Hong Kong, Macau and many communities abroad. The platform records only that a performer declares Chinese, so the chat in any given room could be in either, or switch to English when the audience asks for it.
Script is another divide. Simplified characters are used on the mainland and in Singapore, traditional characters in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau. If you can read only one of them, the room itself will soon show which its performer favors.
China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore share the same clock, well ahead of Europe and far ahead of the Americas. A late-evening bar on a European viewer's chart is already the next morning in Taipei, and an American evening is a Chinese-speaking performer's breakfast.
Chinese speakers also live across Southeast Asia, North America and Europe, so not every room keeps East Asian hours; a performer's declared country settles it. For rooms from the region that run in English, the Asian tag is a reasonable companion.
Questions
Does the Chinese page cover both Mandarin and Cantonese?
Chinese on a profile can mean Mandarin, Cantonese or another variety; the platform does not split them. The room chat is the place to find out which one a performer actually uses.
Will the chat be in simplified or traditional characters?
That depends on the performer and the audience, since both scripts are in use. Performers from different regions tend to write the script they grew up with.
Why are Chinese-speaking rooms online when Europe is asleep?
East Asian clocks run far ahead of European and American ones, and many Chinese speakers keep them. The chart shows where their night falls on your day.
